4.      Mission Statement

The mission statement developed last month was reviewed.  A few minor changes were made and we agreed that it was complete.  The statement is:

St. Isidore Parish is a Catholic faith community committed to helping people deepen their relationship with Christ.  The cornerstones of our mission are the celebration of the Eucharist, Christian service, evangelization, and religious education for every person.  These are the foundations through which we help people to grow and sustain the excitement of their relationship.  We are committed, with the help of the Holy Spirit, to welcoming all to our faith community, seeing Christ in one another and growing in our commitment to be more like Christ, especially in our daily prayer life.

The mission statement will be published on the website and in the bulletin.  We also discussed having a laminated poster made to be displayed in the church.

5.      Mission Goals

We spent much of the meeting discussing possible goals.  Much of the discussion centered on increasing adult participation in the church generally and faith formation specifically.  Some specifics we discussed were:

·         Social committee to bring adults together

·         Having GOF materials available in church to entice adults to participate in GOF

·         Increasing sacramental involvement, especially reconciliation

·         Increasing marketing via a newsletter, email broadcasts and other means

6.      Finance Council

Bill Oberlies gave the presentation at all masses.  The Grand Annual collection envelopes were delivered to the post office.

About 25 people came to the spaghetti dinner.  The next event is a trip to the La Salette shrine in Attleborough.

A donor has stepped up to purchase the lawn mower.

Building and grounds has a list of ‘odds and ends’ projects that need to be done and will need a few volunteers to help.  We discussed the possibility of having the middle school kids do some as part of the service component of GOF.  Dave will prepare a list and review with Maggie Perrault.

c.       Faith formation (GOF)

The finance council has not met since GOF started to determine if the collection process has improved.
