Meeting Minutes (As Yet Unapproved)
St. Isidore Parish Pastoral Council
January 11, 2001

Members Attending: Rev. Richard Butler, Pastor, Deacon Charles Cornell, Marshall Cross, Paul Curley, Donne Cutting, Mike Holt, Judy Killeen, Shirley Ormsby, Margaret Passafiume, John Slattery,

Members Absent: Nancy Dome, Jackie Downing, Patricia Noone, Mike Statkus.

Note:  Julie Orsatti has indicated that her schedule will prevent her continuing as a member.  Her resignation was accepted with thanks for what she has done.

Minutes:  Minutes of December 14th accepted

PPC Elections

Scheduled for May 20th; pictures and statements to be up May 6 and 13.

Nominating committee to prepare a slate by April 15th. Important that the slate include enough names that the election be a real contest.

Question of how many to be elected.  Usually four, but last year none; thus in 2002 when the eight who came on (by election or appointment) leave there will be a shortage.  Thus this year five to be elected.

Nominating committee consists of outgoing members: Marty and Julie have resigned; thus the committee would be only Mike and Judy.  They will work out logistics with Fr. Butler.

Advent – Christmas – Epiphany

It was agreed that the liturgical celebrations were good.  Special thanks to the Vierkant’s for the work on the crèche.  Suggested that Advent get greater emphasis next year; perhaps as follow through of the anniversary celebration.

Newsletter

Positive feedback.   Encouragement to develop a logo that includes the drawing of Isidore (this is being worked out.)  Deadline for submitting items for next issue: February 7.

Priority and goal for 2000-2001

John Slattery offered thoughts he has picked up on the Internet on the role model that Isidore provides.  Discussion played around the concept of oxen yoked, what it is to be yoked to Christ.  The goal of looking forward for a new generation with a new suburban culture would evolve after the May 27th moment in staggered activity from the spring of 2000 to the spring of 2001.

Update from the pastor

Written and oral: Dedication by the Cardinal May 27, Newsletter, Pictorial directory, Boy Scouts, Baby Shower, Finance Council, Archdiocesan convocation Mar 10.

Review of the meeting

“interesting”, appreciated John’s thoughts on Isidore as role model, good meeting, good session.

Next meetings:

Feb 8, Mar 8, *, May 10, Jun 14, 2001

*Thu. Apr. 12 is Holy Thursday, thus no meeting.  Determine in February whether to reschedule or cancel.
