St. Isidore Parish Pastoral Council
March 13, 2003

Evening Prayer

Minutes: Minutes of February 13th accepted. (Noted that the discussion of the planned March 9th meeting of the Youth Commission was accidentally omitted from the minutes.)

Update from the pastor

The Finance Council will be reporting to the parish on the weekend of March 23rd. The financial situation is challenging with a significant drop in the offertory.

Council Elections

The election for four new members of the council will be held on the weekend of May 31 / June 1. Mike Statkus has agreed to serve on the nominating committee. We will aim for an announcement for potential candidates by April 1st. If nominations can be made by April 20th, we should be able to have a slate with photos and bios by mid May. Noted that the next Newsletter is scheduled to be edited by the first or second week of May and could feature the election.

On the question of adding appointed members meanwhile, Fr. Butler will consider possibility of one or two for a one or two year term but is hesitant simply to appoint those who did not win the past election as this would void the concept of an election.

Discussion of small faith communities

There was continued brainstorming of the concept and potential of small faith communities. The meeting of March 16th is scheduled and hopefully will bring sufficient participants to get a few groups going.

Family Mass

Delayed to the next meeting.
