Attached.
PPC 2003-04
Agreed to monthly meetings, 2nd Thursday of each month
Rosario accepted the unanimous call to continue as vice-chair
Fr. Butler agreed to do the minutes.
Priority of the PPC for 2003-04
Brainstorming raised six potential points for consideration:
Reaching out to welcome back those who have been absent since the scandal
Aware of the number who have left in the past two years, is there a strategy
to reach out, not only to them but to any who have left.
Religious Education
Is there a model that would be more productive? Fr. Butler mentioned that the
staff and some parishioners will be beginning an eighteen month pilot study
of “Generations of Faith.” Should this be the priority chosen,
the process would include following along with this pilot project in which
about twenty parishes of the archdiocese are participating.
Sunday Eucharist – especially vis-à-vis children and young families
This would be a follow-up to the discussions last year, which – while
providing some airing of views – did not get sufficient steam as much
homework needs yet to be done.
Financial situation of the parish
Response to the crisis of last March produced slight improvement but much needs
yet to be done. It was pointed out that the parish finance council is attempting
much the same task.
Ecumenical/ interfaith policies and programs
Interfaith and ecumenical activity in the parish, while polite and civil, has
been modest. It was also noted that the parish has been more reactive than
proactive.
Civic outreach of the parish to the wider community
While some noted that this was a primary need, others spoken of its being subsumed
into the Interfaith issue.
After a round robin of opinions, a series of voting indicated that 1.2.3.
and 5 were a virtual tie and 4 and 6 did not gain strong voting.
The next meeting of the ppc will try to move forward on this.
Review of meeting
“good meeting”, “pleased to see the civic issue raised”, “starting
to work together”
