Summary/Review

  • Applefest cancelled for this year. Scott D. not able to run it on his own and no one else stepped forward. Anna Lopez has offered to organize next year. * We need a committee, rather than one person to plan and carry it out.

  • Lights in the sacristy are to be replaced. Bob Norton is looking at the electrical.

  • Building and Grounds committee to be set up. Steve Jasmin to head this comm.

  • Council discussed possible projects/topics to focus on this year.

    • # 1 -Aylaian/Dimasi would like to have others take over the garden . Perhaps we could get someone to be in charge ( chair) of the garden that will get families to help. We may need to find other organizations to take veggies from us. Can they help pick ? Could families pick after Masses on Sunday ? This would tie in with GoF theme this yr.- Being a disciple.
    • # 2- Sound system for hall ( should be directed to building/grounds comm.
    • #3- Youth Group- We have no youth minister.Group is difficult to run by parent volunteers. Perhaps a sub-committee to look at options. Any chance of affiliation with another Parish ( St. Elizabeth’s) Pay part of their y. minister salary? We could start out with trips to see about commitment and go from there.
    • #4- Building community – Ideas: Send a loaf of homemade bread and a GOF starter kit to new families that register with the parish. One –on-one visits to talk with parishioners to hear their “stories “. Find out why or why not do they come to Mass. What is missing? What do they need ? Develop a framework to keep in place. Newsletters and GOF registrations to all who are registered in the parish.
    • # 5- GOF – listen to feedback both good and bad. How people feel about GOF. What do they think about Rel Ed ? Pass on info to Nancy.

Next meeting – Thursday October 12, 2006
