Garden Committee
-
Dave DiMasi and Doug Aylaian
could not attend this meeting but expressed desire to have a
committee formed to take over activities associated with care of the
garden. Both men will work with new committee to assure smooth
transition.
-
There is a family in the parish
interested in taking over responsibilities. Ed R. will follow up
with Doug to find out more.
-
Concern was brought up over the
abundance of food produced and the lack of outlets to supply it to.
- New
committee would look into other local pantries to supply.
-
Four Phases of Garden would
include:
-
Planning
-
Opening
-
Till garden
-
Laying Weed Paper
-
Set up irrigation
-
Planting
-
Cultivation and maintenance
(harvest)
-
Close up at end of season.
-
There needs to be a job
description for Garden Committee.
-
Action: Ed R. will speak
with Dave and Doug to give a written description of phases,
detailing what needs to be done at each level.
-
Talk about having a sign made
that describes the Garden, its intent, and who it is maintained by.
Building and Grounds Committee
-
Cara gave overview of DEP standards and guideline issues.
-
Dave reviewed last month’s
notes regarding responsibilities of Building & Grounds
Committee.
-
Halogen lights (cement posts) do
not work. Look into removal.
-
Action: Dave G.
will organize concerns and put together a framework which
includes:
-
Review Ramone’s checklist of responsibilities.
-
Pressing concern regarding moisture in foundation and leaks
throughout the church.
- How
big should committee be?
Youth Group Discussion
-
Kathy King has organized a
middle school movie night on Nov. 11. which includes attending Mass,
a talk and a movie and pizza.
-
GOF is offering a
wonderful opportunity of fellowship. A Dancer’s Christmas to be held at the Robsham Theatre at Boston College Campus on Dec.
10. Tickets will be on sale during November’s GOF and after
Masses.
-
Nancy suggested that if there
was interest in forming a Youth Group at St. Isidore’s, there
should be a task force formed to define and investigate this idea.
This group might want to meet with YG Ministers from other parishes
and then put a proposal together.
-
Things to keep in mind:
Available
resources
Space
Volunteers
– must be CORI’d and CAP trained
Funds
for a salary
Make
a wish list
What
would YG look like?
What do you
need to make it happen?
Need
a balance of spiritual and social aspects
Cautions
not to try to have a YG like our generation, things have changed.
Charlie
noted that there are a lot of diocesan activities that could be taken
advantage of.
Meeting finished at 9:09 PM.
