Liturgical Committee
- It has been brought
to Laureen’s attention by the concerns of a few parishioners
that there appears to be a lack of reverence surrounding the
celebration of the Eucharist (Mass). Concerns stated include the
following:
-
When socializing
before or after Mass, some people tend to be too loud; location of
socializing disturbing to those praying; occasionally children are
running around including through the pews and up the front of the
church near altar / tabernacle; appears to be a lack of reverence
to the tabernacle (genuflecting).
-
Discussion from PPC included:
-
Children running around should
never be allowed. Anyone seeing this should put a stop to it
immediately.
-
Socializing is an
important part of fellowship in our parish. It is always
encouraged. For some this may be the only opportunity for
interaction, especially for those parishioners living out of town.
However, we need to make a conscious effort of where and how we
socialize. Be aware of those who are praying, the action of our
young children, and the volume of our voices.
- Catechesis needed
for a more “conscious, active, and full
participation of the faithful both in body and in mind”
(GIRM) at the Liturgy. Possible ways to do this might include:
- A “Did you know…”
column once a month in the weekly bulletin
-
Charlie and Laureen will look
into this further.
-
Insert in bulletin with
instructions and meanings
- Remind
(announce) and encourage participation in the Parish’s
website Bulletin Board where parishioners can voice their
concerns, ideas.
-
This would be another venue
where parishioners could become more involved in their parish and
leads to another source of communicating.
-
Laureen questioned developing a
Parish Liturgical Committee
- Charlie gave history of St.
Isidore’s Liturgy Committee, what their role included and the
importance of Liturgical understanding from those that would be on
it.
-
Charlie will follow up with the
Stewardship Committee.
-
This is an important committee
to have for our parish. PPC members should think of who might be
good candidates to have on it.
Garden Committee
-
Susan O. will make
poster for Parish Ministry Fair in March.
-
Charlie will add notes from Doug
Aylaian (January, 2007) regarding care and maintenance of garden to
the parish website (PPC minutes January, 2007)
Building and Grounds Committee
Dave G. (and family) made poster for
