Update from the pastor to parish pastoral council 13 February 2003

Finances
Four new members have been appointed to the parish finance council: Bill Cronin, Scott Drugotch, Cara Florio and Diane Statkus.

Pro-Life
Our thanks to all who helped.

Lenten Renewal
We have begun to set in place the Lenten Renewal with March 15-16 statements at Mass, evening plenary session, followed by small groups around April 1 (Lent), May 1 (Easter), and June 1 (Pentecost). St. Malachy’s has agreed to assist us.

Office of Child Advocacy
The parish Child Abuse Prevention Team will meet March 27th to schedule sessions for parish volunteers and parents.

Ecumenism
The January 22 discussion on Ecumenism did not draw attendance but a number spoke well of the thought. Perhaps a different approach the next time.

AIM
The parish is hosting the Archdiocesan AIM seminar on The Triduum and the Liturgical Year on six Monday evenings beginning March 3rd.

Ice Cream Social
The traditional social for young and old Friday January 31st was well attended. Many thanks to the crew.

Adult Social
The February 15th social was canceled due to lack of subscription.

Haiti
Fr. Butler will be in Haiti February 14-20. Our thanks to the number of donations given.

Youth Commission
About a dozen have been invited to a meeting March 9th to get this moving. The meeting is scheduled for 9:15 a.m.; thus allowing for back to back attendance at liturgy before or after.

Parish Pastoral Council Election
In 1999, in addition to the regular election of members a number of additional parishioners were appointed. Thus no election was held in 2000 and no members are completing terms in the summer of 2003. To get back into regular rotation it was decided to have an election of four new members in the spring of 2003 for a three year term 2003-2006. The council should move on this in February or March.
Ideally we would look to electing four members in May to serve until the summer of 2006. Thus a slate of candidates (eight) should be available by May 1st. Thus active recruitment should begin by April 1st. Thus a committee should be planning by mid-March.

Archdiocesan Convocation of Councils
This has been canceled this year.
