Generations of Faith Program Changes for 2010-2011Dear GOF families: We are writing to let you know of the changes that will be in effect for the 2010/2011 sessions of GOF. These changes are: SESSION DAYS: We will be keeping both Friday and Sunday evening sessions even though attendance at the Friday sessions is considerably smaller. The only exceptions to this will be when we invite a guest speaker/artist/musician. On those occasions only a Sunday session will be offered. You will still need to register each month by visiting the parish website www.stisidorestow.org or calling the Faith Formation office 978-897-9790. MEALS: On Friday evenings we will offer pizza and beverages from 5:45-6:15 PM for those who would like to purchase it and place an order in advance on the online RSVP form. The GOF session will begin promptly at 6:15 in the church. There will be a break mid-session during which we will offer dessert and beverages. On Sunday evenings the session will begin promptly at 4:30 PM in the church. We will have a longer mid-session break and will offer pizza, dessert and beverages for those who would like them. If your family will be having pizza you will need to indicate that on the online RSVP form. The pizza’s will be delivered by Stow House of Pizza and will cost $1.50 per slice. You will be able to indicate if you would like pizza and how many slices you would like for your family on the RSVP form each month. For the September sessions dessert and beverages will be offered free of charge; once we are able to see what the consumption is we will be able to determines a per person and/or per family charge for the following months. SESSION BREAKOUTS: During sessions when there will be age appropriate breakouts we will typically break out as follows:
The children in gr. 1-5 will be in small groups with facilitators during the first part of the break out session and gr. 1-5 parents will have their own break-out group at that time. Following the refreshment break gr. 1-5 parents and their children will be together for an activity. All others will return to their usual group. A sample Friday and Sunday schedule is listed below. In order for all these changes to happen we MUST have additional volunteers. Previously the caterer supplied all of the food and paper goods, and served, set-up and cleaned up the food items from the hall. We will now need to purchase our own paper goods, supply our own beverages and desserts and have people available on both Friday night and Sunday night to set up the foods being served during the break. We will need shoppers and set up volunteers. We ask that Middle school and High School parents consider this volunteer option . In order to offer small groups with facilitators in grades 1-5 we MUST have additional volunteers. We will need grade level facilitators for the grade 1 & 2 and 3-5 breakout groups. Full lesson plans/scripts and supplies will be provided. Lesson plans will be available online one week before the session, and I am happy to meet with anyone who would like to meet in advance of any/all sessions. Supplies will be on site when you arrive. We ask that grade 1-5 parents consider volunteering 3 times during the year. If there is another parent you wish to volunteer with you may do so when signing up on the website. If we do not have enough volunteers we will have to continue with one large group for grades 1-5. All volunteers will be assigned on a first come first serve basis. **Please note: Conf I & II and Post Confirmation are only offered on Sunday evenings. There are currently no PreK/K children registered for the Friday sessions therefore, this year, we will only offer PreK/K at Sunday sessions. Sincerely, Nancy
